AMHERST, Mass. (May 6, 2023) - The Loyola track & field team competed in the first day of A-10 Championships Saturday.
Blake Buysse made history claiming the first ever win for the Ramblers in the men's 10k. He clocked a time of 29:35.83 for the title.
After day one, the men sit in seventh place out of 13 teams, while the women are tied ninth out of 15.
Also running the men's 10k,
Sean O'Connell posted a time of 31:21.62.
Nick Chudzik trailed with a time of 31:49.72, while
Nathan Kolbus wrapped up with a time of 32:23.61.
Grace Jostock paced the women with a third place finish in the women's 10k time of 35:40.23.
Sophia Manners also placed in the top-10 finishing seventh with a time of 36:29.08.
Grace Maurer (38:32.78) and
Ruth Heery (38:42.48) concluded the Rambler women's performances.
Two Ramblers ran the 3k steeple Saturday.
Roisin Treacy was hot off a record-setting performance in Loyola's last regular season meet. She ran a time of 11:41.92 to lead the Ramblers. A few seconds behind her was
Aiden Grasse with a time of 11:45.60.
Erin Connors was the final Rambler woman in action running the 400 hurdles. She narrowly missed a personal best with a time of 1:02.28 for sixth in the event.
In the men's 800,
Miguel Abaitua finished fifth recording a time of 1:51.93.
Jevan Terry also made an appearance in two events. In the 100 dash, he clocked a time of 11.11. He followed that up with 22.92 in the 200 dash.
The A-10 Championships wrap up Sunday. Action will start at 10 a.m. CT and can be streamed on ESPN+.
