KENOSHA, Wis. (September 1, 2023) – The Loyola Chicago cross country teams opened the 2023 slate up north at UW Parkside in the Vic Godfrey Open. Five Ramblers made their career debuts Friday night, while five returned to the course for another year of action.
Both the Rambler women and men were led with breakout freshmen performances.
The women's 4k took off first with
Jo Collins leading the pack of Ramblers. She finished with a time of 15:14.08 in her debut. For the men,
Trent Anderson posted a team-best time of 19:52.90 in the 6k.
Grace Maurer was on Collins's heels clocking 15:24.33, nearly 50 seconds faster than her time last season in the Open.
Aiden Grasse (15:38.73),
Eva Bednard (16:41.17), and
Ruth Heery (16:42.65) wrapped up the women's performances.
Jack Slaughter (20:09.72),
Aidan Collins (20:15.48), and
James Howell (20:17.36) all finished within an eight-second stretch of each other to place second through fourth on the Rambler charts.
Rounding out the Rambler finishes was
Cameron Arkesteyn with a time of 21:04.03.
Loyola heads to the Notre Dame National Catholic Championships next on Sept. 15 in South Bend, Indiana.
