SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Both the Loyola Chicago men's and women's cross country teams surged to second-place finishes in the Notre Dame Catholic Invite Friday afternoon. The Ramblers finished behind the nationally ranked Notre Dame squads who both took first in their respective events.
Grace Kuhn posted a top-10 time finishing eighth in the women's 5k. Kuhn ran a time of 17:43.80 to lead the pack.
Grace Jostock,
Eileen Seebon, and
Lily Mataway were all inside the women's top-20. Jostock landed 15
th running a time of 18:06.00. In her collegiate debut, Seebon placed 17
th with a time of 18:08.70, while Mataway clocked 18:15.90 for 19
th.
Delia McDade-Clay (18:21.90) rounded out the team's top-five earning Loyola points in her first race as a Rambler.
Jason Clayton had the highest finish for Loyola in the men's five-mile race. Clayton took seventh overall with a time of 24:32.21.
The Ramblers then eanred 10
th, 11
th, and 12
th in the race.
Gabe Smit claimed 10
th with a time of 24:52.50 for a new PR by a little over a second.
In their Loyola debuts,
Cael Mulholland and
Fionn Harrington trailed closely behind Smit. Mulholland's time of 24:52.70 earned 11
th, while Harrington placed 12
th clocking 24:56.90.
Jake Phillips fell in the top-20 finishing 17
th as the final Rambler earning points. He ran a time of 25:16.00 in his debut.
Loyola returns to action in two weeks at home with the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational. The race is being held at the Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course on Sept. 29. More information can be found at
