Ramblers Commence A-10 Play Against George Washington on the Road

Kick set for 2 p.m. CT in D.C.

CHICAGO (Sept. 15, 2023) – Fresh off its 5-0 dismantling of IUPUI last Tuesday on the road, the Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team looks to carry its momentum into a Saturday matinee against George Washington to kick off Atlantic 10 action.

LAST TIME OUT
A barrage of goals from the Ramblers helped them claim a 5-0 victory over IUPUI last Tuesday at Carrol Stadium. The win marked the team's largest margin of victory since 2008 as Loyola Chicago improved to 3-1-1 overall.

Andrew Schweinert, with his first goal of the season, broke the 0-0 in the 21st minute after beautiful passes from Oscar Dueso and John Gates in the box. Later in the 41st minute, Markus Maurer brought his goal season total to three after he sunk a penalty kick just before the halftime horn blew.

After the break, Petar Janjic notched back-to-back goals in the 57th and 73rd minutes. Julian Cisneros and Ethan Young - the first of his career - were credited with the assists. Finally, in the 89th minute, Ethan Young scored his first career goal while Jack McFeely, the third freshman of the evening to record a point, nabbed the assist, a career first for him as well.

NOTES
  • The shutout win marked LUC's third of the year.
  • Freshman Petar Janjic was named this past week's A-10 Rookie of the Week following his game-winning goal against Oakland on Sept. 4. The goal was a career first as Loyola won the match, 1-0.

  • Loyola Chicago was picked to finish third in the league after finishing as runners-up last season while George Washington was picked 11th.
  • Loyola currently ranks No. 4 in the A-10's overall standings.
  • The Ramblers have yet to lose a match on the road this year (1-0-1).
  • With just four goals allowed thus far, Loyola ranks No. 3 in the league in GA.
  • On the opposite side of the field, Loyola Chicago averages 2.200 goals per-game, tying with Duquesne for the conference's top spot.
  • The squad is No. 2 in the A-10's ranking of shots with 87 total. Oscar Dueso leads the team with 14. Nationally, the team ranks No. 5 in the category.
