CHICAGO (Sept. 22, 2023) – The Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team, riding a three-game win streak, looks to keep the ball rolling as it plays host to Atlantic 10 foe Duquesne tomorrow at home.
WHEN AND WHERE
The Ramblers (5-1-1, 1-0 A10) square off against the Dukes (4-2-1, 1-0 A10) at Loyola Soccer Park Saturday (Sept. 23). Kick off is set for 3 p.m. CT at Hoyne Field in Rogers Park.

LAST TIME OUT
Last Tuesday, LUC bested DePaul, 4-2, winning the third-straight iteration of the Red Line Rivalry.

NOTES
- Coming off a 4-2 Red Line Rivalry win over DePaul last Tuesday, LUC returns to A-10 play as it faces Duquesne Saturday at Hoyne for a rematch of the 2022 A-10 Semifinals.
- The win marked Loyola's third-straight over the Blue Demons while the squad has not lost to DePaul since 2013.
- Loyola and Duquesne are in a five-way tie for the A-10's top spot.
- Freshman Petar Janjic continues to shine in the Maroon & Gold as he enters Saturday after winning back-to-back A-10 Rookie of the Week nods.
- Janjic had a game-high two goals and four points, both career bests, in the team's win over IUPUI on Sept. 12 to earn him his first Rookie of the Week plaudit.
- Janjic was also named last week's Rookie of the Week following his game-winning goal against Oakland on Sept. 4. The goal was his career first as Loyola won the match, 1-0.
- The Ramblers have yet to lose a match on the road this year (3-0-1).
- An impressive nine separate Ramblers have recorded a goal while 10 have at least one assist this year.
- With just six goals allowed thus far, Loyola ranks No. 2 in the league in GA (.85 pg).
- On the opposite side of the field, Loyola Chicago averages 2.429 goals per-game, leading the conference.
- The squad paces the A-10's ranking of shots per-game with 17.86. Marc Torrellas leads the team with 22.
- Nationally, the team ranks second in the shots per-game and shots on-goal per-game (8.00).
- Dueso (2.86 s/pg) and Marc Torrellas (3.14 s/pg) are No. 8 and No. 5, respectively, in the A-10's top shooters.
- Lukas Ender (608) and Noel Hansson (607), both defenders, lead the team in minutes played.
- LUC is outscoring its foes, 17-6.
- The team is also out-shooting opponents, 125-56. The Ramblers have out-shot every foe in every match thus far.
- With its four shutouts, Loyola is tied for the ninth-best shutout differential in NCAA D-I.
- LUC leads the A-10 in assists (19), goals (17), points (53), and shots (125).
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- With a 4-2-1 overall mark, the Dukes' three-game win streak was snapped on their home turf last Tuesday at the hands of Xavier. Duquesne was shutout, 2-0, after the full 90.
- Prior to the defeat, the Dukes notched back-to-back 1-0 shutouts over UMass and Robert Morris after beating Niagara, 2-1, on the road.
- Jayden Da leads the team with his five goals, two assists and 12 points.
THE HISTORY
- In their previous three meetings, the two clubs are even in terms of results. The first meeting, in 1999, ended in a 1-1 overtime draw.
- The pair wouldn't meet again for 23 years, until Loyola Chicago's first season a part of the A-10 in 2022.
- LUC suffered a 2-1 defeat in the first matchup in Pittsburgh but rebounded for a 1-0 triumph in the semifinal match of the 2022 A-10 Tournament.
- In the loss on Sept. 17, Andrew Schweinert notched the 1-1 equalizer in the ninth minute of play, but the Dukes found the game-winning goal in the 57th minute.
- In the postseason win on Nov. 9, a 59th minute goal from Marc Torrellas lifted fourth-seeded Loyola Chicago past second-seeded Duquesne, sending the 'Blers to the finals against Saint Louis.
LOOKING AHEAD
Loyola will break from league action one more time as it faces NIU on the road this coming Tuesday (Sept. 26). Kick is set for 7 p.m. in DeKalb, Ill.
