Ramblers Return Home for 44th Annual Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational

Races begin at 10 a.m. at the Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course

CHICAGO – Loyola Chicago cross country returns to the north side this week for the 44th annual Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational. The meet will feature four races at Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course on Friday, Sept. 29.
 
The women's Gold Division 6k will start at 10a.m., followed by the men's Gold Division 8k at 10:45 a.m. The Tom Cooney Championship Races will wrap up the action with the women's 6k at 11:25 a.m. and men's 8k at 12 p.m.  In the championship races, there will be 15 teams of 10 athletes. The remaining teams and athletes will run in the Gold Division races.
 
The Ramblers are welcoming 10 nationally ranked programs to the lakefront Friday. On the men's side, Wisconsin (4th), Tulsa (20th), and Ole Miss (23rd) ranked in the USTFCCCA Top-30 earlier this week. On the women's side, Wisconsin (17th), Ole Miss (25th), Michigan (26th), and Ohio State (30th) were in the poll. Furman, Lipscomb, and Toledo are also receiving votes for the women nationally.
 
Loyola was last in action at the Notre Dame National Catholic Invitational where both Rambler squads cruised to second place. Grace Kuhn led the Loyola women placing eighth in the 5k with a time of 17:43.80, while Jason Clayton finished seventh overall on the men's side with a 24:32.21 five-mile time.
 
Grace JostockEileen Seebon, and Lily Mataway were all inside the women's top-20. Jostock landed 15th running a time of 18:06.00. In her collegiate debut, Seebon placed 17th with a time of 18:08.70, while Mataway clocked 18:15.90 for 19th. Seebon's performance earned her Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors.
 
The Rambler men also earned 10th, 11th, and 12th in the race. Gabe Smit claimed 10th with a time of 24:52.50 for a new PR by a little over a second.
 
In their Loyola debuts, Cael Mulholland and Fionn Harrington trailed closely behind Smit. Mulholland's time of 24:52.70 earned 11th, while Harrington placed 12th clocking 24:56.90. Mulholland was also awarded A10 Rookie of the Week.
