Ramblers to Face UIC Under the Lights Friday at Loyola Soccer Park

Kick off is set for 7 p.m. on Hoyne Field

CHICAGO (Sept. 7, 2023) – Still undefeated through its first three matches of 2023, the Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team welcomes cross-town rival UIC to Hoyne Field tomorrow night for the Hampton Inn Chicago Classic.

LAST TIME OUT
The Ramblers (2-0-1, 0-0-0 A10) celebrated Labor Day with a 1-0 win over Oakland last Monday afternoon at Hoyne Field. Petar Janjic's first career goal, a game-winner in the 75th minute, propelled the Ramblers to victory. As it's done in each of its contests thus far, LUC out-shot OU 22 (6) – 7 (2). Oscar Dueso tied his career-high in shots with six, a game-high, while John Gates had two cracks on-goal, tying the game-high with OU's Jack Klomparens.

WHEN AND WHERE
Loyola will play host to UIC (3-0-1, 0-0 MVC) tomorrow (Sept. 8) at Loyola Soccer Park. Kick off is slated for 7 p.m. on Hoyne Field.

  • In the last 10 matchups, Loyola leads the series 6-2-2.
  • LUC enjoyed a four-game win streak from Nov. 6, 2012 – Nov. 17, 2016, its longest in the all-time series.
  • The Ramblers have outscored UIC in the past eight meetings, 15-9.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
  • The Flames enter the contest with a 3-0-1 overall mark having played no road games until Friday.
  • UIC opened the season with a 3-1 win over NJIT before shutting out St. Thomas, 3-0. Loyola and the Flames share a similar foe in Oakland as UIC tied the Golden Grizzlies, 2-2. Most recently, the Flames took down Wisconsin, 2-0, last Monday.
  • Sidney Warden leads the Flames' attack with three goals, one assist and seven points to his name.
  • Jesus De Vicente and Josh Torres are close behind with five points each.
  • Oren Asher mas UIC's pipes. He's notched 11 saves and allowed three goals for a GAA of .75. He owns two shutouts and has faced 43 shots.
