Loyola Chicago Meets Rhode Island at Gentile Arena Wednesday

Tip-off set for 6 p.m. CT on ESPN+

Tipping off
The Loyola University Chicago women's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of Gentile Area this Wednesday as it plays host to league-leading Rhode Island. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. CT with the game streaming live on ESPN+. Scott Sudikoff and Shimmy Gray-Miller will call the action.

  • The 'Blers will look to get back on track against the defending 2022-23 co-regular season A-10 champs after falling to Dayton on the road this past Saturday.
  • Prior to their stumble at UD, the Ramblers earned their second-ever Atlantic 10 win Jan. 3 as the team took down Saint Louis, 74-72, at home. LUC shot north of 50-percent from the field for the first time this season.
  • Loyola won the game in crunch time after Alyssa Fisher drained the go-ahead 3-pointer from Sam Galanopoulos with 36 seconds on the clock. Sitori Tanin brought down a rebound and drew a foul on SLU's ensuing possession to seal the win.
  • Fisher, who etched a new season-high (28 points) in the win, saw her fourth straight and ninth game this season in double digits. The past three games, she's averaged 17.0 ppg.
  • Loyola is 6-1 when they achieve more points in the paint than their foe and 7-0 when their starters outscore their opponent's starters.
  • In the ninth spot of the A-10's best shooters from beyond the arc is Galanopoulos who makes 42-percent of her shots from deep.
  • Additionally, Galanopoulos sits No. 13 in the conference's field goal percentage leaders (.460) and No. 12 in free throw percentage leaders (.778). She's fourth in the league in assists per game (4.6) and second in assist/turnover ratio (2.5). She's just 44 points away from reaching 1,000 total throughout her career.
  • Fisher, who averages 1.9 threes per game, ranks 13th in the A-10's 3-pointers per game category and 15th in steals per game (1.5).
  • As a team, Loyola is first in the A-10's assists per game leaders (16.0) and 63rd nationally. Also ranking 63rd nationally is its turnovers forced per game (19.2) stat.
2023-24 Rambler Bites
  • Seven letterwinners return to the roster, including three starters. The Ramblers welcome six newcomers, including two freshman and four transfers.
  • In addition to new players, Loyola added assistant coach Simon Harris and assistant coach Jenna Rubino-McCormick to the program in the off-season.
  • Head coach Allison Guth is in her second season at the helm of Loyola. She enters her eighth year as a head coach after spending the first six seasons at Yale.
Scouting The Rhode Island Rams
  • Rhody (11-5, 3-0 A10) carries a five-game win streak into its matchup with Loyola. All but one game (Saint Louis) through the streak has been on their home court.
  • Most recently (Jan. 6), the Rams beat St. Bonaventure, 65-41, behind a home crowd of 1,200.  
  • Three Rams were in double figures - Phillips (16), Touré (12) and Davis (10).
  • Rhode Island averages 64.8 ppg and shoots the ball at a 40-percent clip. They shoot the deep ball with 30-percent accuracy.
  • Tough on the glass, URI averages 39.2 rebounds per game, ranking fifth in the league.

  • Last season's 63-34 loss to URI was Loyola's first-ever meeting with the Rams.
  • Mallory Ramage registered a season-high seven points to lead the Ramblers.

  • Sam Galanopoulos grabbed a team-high four rebounds.
Last Time Out
The Loyola University Chicago women's basketball team lost a 69-64 decision at Dayton after the Flyers' fourth-quarter comeback. The Ramblers were led by Sitori Tanin's 13 points while Ali Berg was close behind with 12.
