Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Ramblers Notch Second Straight Win, Beat La Salle, 2-1

Cisneros and Urdiales score for Loyola Chicago

CHICAGO – The Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team scored two second half goals to claim its second straight victory, beating La Salle, 2-1, Saturday afternoon at Loyola Soccer Park. Hugo Urdiales and Julian Cisneros scored for the Ramblers, propelling the squad to three points in league play as Loyola searches for a bid to the 2024 Atlantic 10 Tournament.

"I didn't think we played our best game today, but I told the guys, I give them credit for coming through," said Loyola Chicago Head Coach Steve Bode. "Obviously, after we scored the (first) goal, and then really gave up a bit of a soft goal. We've done that earlier this year, and then it's led to a tie or even a loss, and the fact that we were able to respond and kind of shake that one off - and then Julian scoring that one in the box to make it 2-1 showed a lot of growth. For a younger team to be able to come through and get the win and the three points, I was proud of that."

How it Happened
With a commanding lead in shot attempts, the Maroon and Gold (3-8-2, 2-3-1 A-10) broke the 0-0 deadlock in the 63rd minute with Urdiales' goal. The play began with Ben Bischof and Cisneros rocketing off shots in the box, but both were blocked. Urdiales found loose ball after the second shot attempt and took a one-touch strike with his left foot to the back of the net, scoring his third goal in as many games.

La Salle (5-7-3, 2-3-1 A-10) scored a flukey goal 10 minutes later to even the contest, 1-1. The Explorers netted the goal after Aidan Crawford was pulled a bit too far out of the box and a La Salle striker took advantage.

However, it didn't take long for the 'Blers to regain the lead. Petar Janjic fed Cisneros a ball just inside of the La Salle penalty box in the 80th minute, giving the Elk Grove Village, Ill., native a chance to give the Ramblers the lead back. Cisneros, with space, cracked the ball hard to the right side of the net and past the La Salle backline, helping Loyola take a 2-1 lead and the win.
