Loyola Chicago turns its attention to Saint Joseph's next Saturday

NEW YORK CITY – The Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team fell at Fordham Saturday night. Loyola Chicago returns home next Saturday as the team celebrates Senior Day and puts a bow on the regular season at Hoyne Field.

"Tonight was a big challenge for our group," said Loyola Head Coach Steve Bode. "Fordham is an old and experienced team. Credit to them for putting away their chances very well tonight. Now, we'll turn our focus towards Saturday's game back at Loyola Soccer Park."

How it Happened
Fordham scored its first goal in the seventh minute as Daniel D'Ippolito, who leads the league in shots on-goal, successfully tested Aidan Crawford from beyond the penalty box. Later, in the 19th minute, FU doubled its lead as Andre Insalaco also scored outside of the box, giving the Rams a 2-0 lead before the halftime break.

In the second half, Fordham Lukas Hackaa made it a 3-0 affair, scoring off a free kick. Bennett Leitner scored for Fordham in the 57th minute before Insalaco's second goal of the night made it a 5-0 deficit.

Angel Mendez gave Loyola Chicago something to celebrate as he erased the Fordham shutout, scoring in the 85th minute after Benni Hofmann's cross.
