Loyola Chicago Celebrates Senior Day vs. Saint Joseph's

Kick off is set for 1 p.m. on Hoyne Field

CHICAGO - The Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team puts a bow on the regular season this Saturday (Nov. 2) as it plays host to Saint Joseph's at Hoyne Field.

PROMOTION
Loyola student's can enter a priority housing raffle at the game! Make sure to enter the raffle before the match.

KICKING OFF
  • First touch from Loyola Soccer Park is set for 1 p.m. CT with Scott Sudikoff (PXP) and Loyola Hall of Famer, Jack Cannon (Commentary) calling the action live on ESPN+.
  • Prior to the match, the Ramblers will recognize and honor its class of seniors for their hard work and dedication to the Loyola men's soccer program.
  • LUC will honor: Michael Hong, Julian Cisneros, Jamis Fite, Kamran Tejumola, Benni Hofmann, Matthew Andrusko and Quinten Blair.
  • Although Loyola doesn't control its own destiny regarding securing a bid to the 2024 Atlantic 10 Tournament, a win over the Hawks is necessary for LUC to be in the mix.
  • The top-8 teams in the league earn a bid to the tournament with the top-4 earning hosting rights.
  • The conference determines the top-8 seeds by totaling conference points. Points are accumulated for league wins (three points) and draws (one point). Loyola Chicago has seven points and currently sits 10th in the conference standings.
  • If the Ramblers earn a bid, the team will likely travel to either George Mason, Duquesne, or Saint Louis.
  • The Ramblers most recently suffered a 5-1 defeat at Fordham last Saturday. Angel Mendez scored Loyola's sole goal in the final moments of the match.
GLANCE AT SAINT JOSEPH'S
  • The Hawks are led by Head Coach Don D'Ambra who's in his 15th season at the helm. He has a 69-153-36 (.337) record at Saint Joseph's.
  • The team is 4-11-1 overall and 1-6 in A-10 play.
  • Blake Driehuis leads the team with four goals, two of which were game-winners, and nine points.
  • Luke Johnson's four assists leads the team.
  • Two Hawks have 30+ shots through 2024: Tommaso Rossetto and Driehuis.
  • Keeper Lars Haavie has 54 saves and averages 3.60 per-game, the fifth-most in the league.
NOTABLE NUMBERS AND NOTES
  • Last season, Loyola Chicago compiled an 8-2-5 overall record and was 4-1-3 in conference play.
  • In its third season as part of the Atlantic 10, LUC looks to earn its first conference championship since 2019.
  • The Ramblers return 16 student-athletes from the 2023 roster, including nine with starting experience under their belt.
  • Along with their returners, the Ramblers added 13 key pieces to the 2024 roster, including 10 freshmen and three transfers.
  • The Ramblers remain undefeated when scoring two or more goals, a streak that has been ongoing since Sept. 30, 2017.
  • As of Oct. 31, Loyola Chicago has the 63rd-toughest schedule in DI men's soccer based on the NCAA's database. LUC's schedule is the sixth-toughest in the A-10 based off the same database.
  • New to the 2024 season, the clock will stop for substitutions during the final 15 minutes if the game is tied or if the leading team makes a substitution. Substitutions are allowed during any stoppage in play. Additionally, teams are now permitted six substitutions per-game.
SERIES STUFF VS. SAINT JOSEPH'S
  • The two teams have met just once prior on Aug. 29, 1997.
  • The Ramblers pulled out a 4-0 win at Loyola Soccer Park.
