MERCHANICSVILLE, Va. – The Loyola University Chicago women's cross country team claimed its third consecutive Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championship on Saturday morning at the Pole Green Park Cross Country Course. The title marks Loyola's sixth straight conference championship, following their Missouri Valley Conference wins in 2019, 2020, and 2021. Additionally, the men's team took second place in the Championship 8K.
The Rambler women took first place with an average race time of 20:49.92. Running as one, Delia McDade-Clay, Emma Watcke, Grace Kuhn, and Roisin Treacy crossed the finish line together at 20:45.4 to secure Loyola's title. The quartet took places four through seven while the time marked personal records for Watcke and Treacy.
Behind those four and in 14th place, Grace Jostock finished with a time of 21:07.9, a personal record. A few strides behind Jostock in 18th place was Eileen Seebon with a time of 21:17.5, just a few seconds shy of her PR.
Ali Gillooly (21:39.3) took 33rd overall while Daphné Dornic (21:41.0) and Aiden Grasse (21:54.5) rounded out the Rambler women.
For the Rambler men, James Lawrence led the way for Loyola, taking third overall with his time of 23:48.8, one tenth of a second away from tying his PR. Miles Clisham, who took seventh, ran a 24:12.3. Jake Phillips posted a 24:22.9 to claim 11th. On his heels was Samuel Field in 13th with a time of 24:23.0.
Gabe Smit also logged a top-20 finish, taking 16th place with a time of 24:26.6. Cael Mulholland (24:41.6), Woody Jerome (25:06.4), Izak Bibile (25:42.7), and Gabe Ryan (26:15.6) bookended the Loyola men.
Loyola Chicago now turns its attention to the NCAA Midwest Regional which will be held in Peoria, Ill. on Nov. 15.
