Loyola Chicago Hosts George Mason Saturday

Tip-off set for 2 p.m. CT on ESPN+

Tipping Off
The Loyola University Chicago women's basketball team continues its two-game homestand as the squad welcomes George Mason to Gentile Arena Saturday (Feb. 3). Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. with the game streaming live on ESPN+. Scott Sudikoff (PXP) and Hall of Famer Shimmy Gray-Miller (Commentary) will call the action.

Quick Hits
  • With no home-and-home series with George Mason, this is the only time during the 2023-24 regular season Loyola Chicago and GMU will face off.
  • Most recently, Loyola fell, 60-51, to Saint Joseph's at Gentile Arena. Despite the loss, the Ramblers' defense was a bright spot as the team limited the Hawks to below its season-average point total entering the game (67.3).
  • Loyola Chicago has and will play host to the top-two teams in the Atlantic 10 back-to-back, hosting St. Joe's Wednesday (Jan. 31) and GMU Saturday (Feb. 3).
  • The Maroon and Gold have shot the ball at a 44-percent clip or better in four of their past five games, including a season-high 58-percent in their 79-66 win at UMass Jan. 17.
  • LUC out-rebounded St. Joe's, 26-25, on Wednesday. Loyola has won the battle on the glass in two of its last four contests. 
  • Alyssa Fisher and Sam Galanopoulos both average north of 30 minutes per game on the floor. The duo has scored in double-digits in Loyola's past five games.
  • Sharing the ball efficiently, Loyola's 15.3 assists per game ranks 65th in the nation and first in the A-10. LUC as tallied more assists than its opponent in 10 of its 21 games. Galanopoulos, who's 4.1 assists per game leads the team and ranks fourth in the league, has dished out three-plus assists in the past four games.
  • The Ramblers are in the nation's top-40 (37th) in 3-point percentage with their 36-percent clip. Only Richmond (37-percent) has a better average in the A-10.
  • Loyola Chicago fans will be excited to learn that Roisin Grandberry and Kendall Hendrix, two future Ramblers, were recently tabbed as 2024 McDonald's All American Games Nominees.
2023-24 Rambler Bites
  • Seven letterwinners return to the roster, including three starters. The Ramblers welcome six newcomers, including two freshman and four transfers.
  • In addition to new players, Loyola added assistant coach Simon Harris and assistant coach Jenna Rubino-McCormick to the program in the off-season.
  • Head coach Allison Guth is in her second season at the helm of Loyola. She enters her eighth year as a head coach after spending the first six seasons at Yale.
Scouting The George Mason Patriots
  • Third-year head coach Vanessa Blair-Lewis has guided her team to a 19-3 overall record after finishing 16-15 last season.
  • The Patriots pace the conference in offense, averaging 74.0 points per game. Their 17.2 scoring margin leads the league as well.
  • Sonia Smith's 14.5 points per game leads her squad and ranks seventh in the A-10. Most recently, she dropped 15 in the Patriot's 54-47 win vs. Fordham.
  • Winners of seven straight games, GMU's last loss came against URI Jan. 2 on the road. 
All-Time Against George Mason
  • Last season (Feb. 15, 2023) was the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
  • The Patriots came away with a 80-63 win in Chicago.
  • Sitori Tanin logged her third double-double with 12 boards and 16 points. Maya Chandler led all-scorers with 17 points.
  • The Ramblers have yet to travel to Fairfax, Va.
Last Time Out
The Loyola University Chicago women's basketball team lost to league-leading Saint Joseph's, 61-50, Wednesday night inside Gentile Arena. The Ramblers' defense held St. Joe's to below its point season-average of 67.3, but it wasn't enough as the Hawks claimed their 20th win of 2023-24.
