DADE CITY, FLA. (February 6, 2024) – The Loyola University Chicago men's golf team closed out their first tournament of the spring season with an eighth-place finish at the MAC/A10 Challenge, falling to Ohio by a score of 4.0-2.0. Graduate student
Zach Walsh shined today, taking the victory in his match in dominant fashion.
Â
"We were in every match this week," said head coach
Erik Hoops. "Losing 4.0-2.0 or 3.5-2.5 really just comes down to a couple holes going a different way. We've been working on a lot of things this offseason and I feel good about the changes we've made."Â
Â
Zach Walsh captured his first win of the week to finish the week at 1-2-0. Walsh rallied behind three birdies and an eagle in an eight-hole stretch to win his final match six holes in advance. Also joining him in the win column today was sophomore
Sebastian Kasun, who won by a margin of 5&3 to go 2-1-0 for the week. Sophomore
Charlie Kulwin (0-2-1), fell two-down to end his week while fellow sophomore
Ryan Walsh (2-1-0) fell by 2&1. Freshman
Jackson Overton (L4&2) and redshirt sophomore
Zach Mulhearn (4-down) both concluded their weeks with records of 0-3-0.
Â
"I saw a lot of improvement this week," Hoops said. "Unfortunately, it didn't lead to wins. But when the alternative to being down here is still being in Chicago, we can't complain. I'm looking forward to getting the rest of the spring season underway over spring break."

The Ramblers now have over a month to regroup, preparing for the Ross Collegiate Classic, March 11-12, in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
