Men’s Golf Wraps Up Season Opener at Virtues Intercollegiate

NASHPORT, OHIO – The Rambler men's golf team wrapped up the two-day Virtues Intercollegiate on Sunday afternoon. Loyola Chicago competed at the Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio, on the par-72, 7,243-yard course.

Loyola finished in ninth at +34 (299-296-303) with a total score of 898.

"It certainly wasn't what we hoped for in terms of our play and finish, but we had so many positives to take away from this event," said head coach Peter Pougnet. "We have a brand new roster, including four freshmen, traveling and experiencing their first college event. We are only going to continue to grow and get better."

Alex Lee led the Ramblers, finishing +5 after three rounds. He posted a three-round score of 221 (75-74-72) to tie for 36th place. Lee closed out the tournament with an even-par 72 in the final round.

Next up for the Ramblers, Connor Woodin finished tied for 41st with a score of 224 (74-74-76). Woodin opened the tournament with back-to-back rounds of 74 before carding a 76 in the final round.

Yago Lopez finished tied for 51st on the charts with a three-round score of 226 (75-74-77). Lopez recorded rounds of 75 and 74 before finishing with a 77 on Sunday.

Jackson Overton wrapped up team play tied for 55th with a score of 227 (75-74-78). Overton finished the tournament with 35 pars, tying for sixth among the field.

Andrew Chan rounded out the Loyola lineup, finishing tied for 77th with a score of 237 (81-83-73). Chan saved his best round for last, carding a 73 in the final round.

Michael Washburne competed individually for the Ramblers, finishing tied for 38th with a score of 222 (75-70-77).

The Virtues Intercollegiate marked the opening tournament of the 2026-27 season for the Ramblers. With a new roster and four freshmen gaining their first collegiate tournament experience, Loyola will look to build on the positives from its season opener as it continues to grow throughout the fall.

Loyola will take two weeks off then head to the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational on Sept. 14-15 in Huntington, West Virginia.
