EVANSTON, Ill. – Loyola Chicago took a quick road trip to Northwestern Tuesday night to wrap up non-conference play. The Ramblers fell to the Wildcats, 7-3.
Liz Sedakis recorded her first career home run in the fifth inning to put Loyola's first run on the board.
With the loss, the Ramblers fall to 14-15 overall.
"We had multiple chances to do damage at the plate and didn't capitalize when we needed to," said head coach
Alicia Abbott. "The plan is to build off of some of our mistakes from today to head into this weekend."
Both the Ramblers and Wildcats tallied hits in the first inning, but it wasn't until the third when the first runs crossed home. Northwestern gained early base runners with singles from Muno and Donahey. Both base runners were brought home on a three-run blast from Zedak over the left field fence for a 3-0 lead.
Sedkais hit the second homer of the game in the fifth to give Loyola its first run of the game, but the Wildcats responded with two in the bottom for five more runs taking a 7-1 lead.
The Ramblers scored two more in the sixth with the help of a wild pitch and passed ball. It wasn't enough to overcome the deficit, and Northwestern won, 7-3.
