DAYTON, Ohio – The Ramblers and Flyers wrapped their regular season series Saturday with a doubleheader. Dayton came out on top in both games, 2-0 and 7-5.
Loyola Chicago falls to 14-18 overall and 3-6 in the A-10.
Game One: Dayton 2, Loyola 0
Ava Bieneman led off the game with the first hit of the day. It was the only offensive action Loyola saw before Dayton pulled ahead in the third on a fielding error, 1-0.
The Ramblers found a spark in the sixth loading the bases with a single by
Bella Crimaldi, double by
Haley Wallace, and walk by
Sydney Barnett. The Flyers retired two straight outs to escape unscathed.
Dayton then added one more run to the board in the bottom frame. Wong singled to right center to get on base and found home on a deep pop up to second base. The Ramblers didn't have a response in the seventh, and the Flyers took the 2-0 win.

Game Two: Dayton 7, Loyola 5
Loyola put two runs on the board in the top of the first looking for a hot start to the series finale.
Teagan Sopczak brought the first runner home with a single to right field, while Wallace doubled the lead 2-0 on a pickoff at first.
The Flyers knotted the game quickly in the bottom with a run walked in and sac fly to tie it 2-2. Dayton kept momentum going in the second loading the bases. Kapsimalis stepped up and hit a grand slam to clear them and take a 6-2 lead.
The Ramblers began to chip away with a solo homer from
Abbie Gregus in the fifth and another pair scoring on an error in the sixth to get within two, 7-5. The Flyers held the Ramblers off in the seventh and took the win.
