KINGSTON, R.I. – The Ramblers and Rams split Saturday's doubleheader. Loyola Chicago shutout Rhode Island 3-0 in game one, while Rhode Island rallied for a walk-off 2-1 win in game two.
With the split, Loyola sits at 15-19 overall and 4-7 in the Atlantic 10.
"It was an overall good day for our defense and pitchers," said head coach
Alicia Abbott. "We put up eight hits in both games and needed to drive in a couple of additional runs in the second game to close the door. The pieces were closer together today."
Game One: Loyola 3, Rhode Island 0
Liz Sedakis had a break out game for the Ramblers carrying the offense to the win. She helped Loyola go up 2-0 in the first inning bringing
Haley Wallace and
Sydney Barnett home with a two-run single through the left side.
Loyola tallied hits in the second and third before using another two for its third run of the game in the fifth inning. Wallace doubled to right field and scored her second run of the game off a single up the middle from Sedakis.
In the seventh, the Rams put a runner on with no outs, but the Ramblers took the next three down and won, 3-0.

- This marked the sixth shutout of the season and second in A-10 play for the Ramblers.

Peyton Pepkowski now has five of those six shutouts.
- Pepkowski gave up only three hits and tallied eight strikeouts in her eighth win of the year.
- The Ramblers tallied eight total hits.
- Barnett went 2-for-3 with one run scored.
- Sedakis went 2-for-2 with three RBI.
Game Two: Rhode Island 2, Loyola 1
Saturday's closer was a defensive battle through the fifth inning before
Bella Crimaldi was able to shake the Rams' defense with a homer to left field. Rhode Island gained early confidence in the bottom frame with a lead-off triple, but
Sierra Sass was able to turn a double play at the plate after snagging a pop fly for the Ramblers to escape with a 1-0 edge.
With the game on the line, Power and Zawistowski singled for the Rams early in the seventh. Power found home to tie the game 1-1 with a Rambler fielding error. Loyola had two outs, but Rensel was able to hit a hard single to third bringing the winning run home, 2-1.
