ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Loyola Chicago's
Jason Clayton ran a blitzing 3:57.06-minute mile Thursday night at the HOKA Festival Of Miles in St. Louis. His time broke the school record - which he set in 2022 at the same event - of 3:59.53.
The junior placed third in the Saint Louis Track Club Professional Men's Mile with his sub-4 minute mile, earning himself a podium finish in a talent-packed field. The event, which hosted Olympic-level athletes, donates a portion of ticket sales revenue to an athlete in need.
Clayton's 3:41.38 split tonight was a personal record and remains No. 3 in Loyola history.
The evening adds to an already impressive outdoor season for the Melbourne, Australia, native. Clayton took first place at the 2024 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships 5k and reached the NCAA West 1,500 Quarterfinal.
