Ramblers Face Purdue in First Road Game

Loyola Chicago visits Purdue ahead of DePaul home match.

LEADING OFF 
Following their first victory this season, the Ramblers hit the road to take on Purdue in Boilermakers territory at 6 p.m. CT.  

QUICK KICKS  

  • Redshirt freshman goalie Allison Deardorff was named the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week in the league's first batch of the weekly honors. She played the full 90 minutes in her career debut, recording one save and a shutout. 
  • Three more Ramblers in their career debuts found the net in Loyola's home opener against Eastern Illinois last Thursday. Emily Rossi had a brace while Jocelyn Leigh and Lydia Case each scored a goal. 
  • Sophomore forward and A-10 Preseason All-Conference Team pick Zoe Hevey had a pair of assists and four shots (2 SOG) against EIU. 
  • Assistant coach Jim Schneiderhahn joined Loyola after nine years as an assistant coach at Purdue. It will be his first meeting with the Boilermakers as a Rambler. 

SCOUTING PURDUE  
So far this season, Purdue is 1-1 overall after defeating Washington State 1-0 in its home and season opener on Aug. 15 then falling 3-0 to Butler on Aug. 18 in Indianapolis. Last season, the Boilermakers finished 3-13-2 overall and 0-8-2 in Big Ten play. 

BOILERMAKERS TO WATCH  

  • Senior forward Gracie Dunaway scored the first goal of Purdue's season in their home opener against Washington State last week. Last season Dunaway was second on the team in points (3 G) and tied for first in goals.
  • Another returner, senior middie Abigail Roy started all 18 games last season and tallied 1,390 minutes, fourth-most on the team amongst field players. She was named to the Academic All-Big Ten and ended her junior campaign with four points (2 A), eight shots and one shot on goal.  
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Emily Edwards played the full 90 minutes in the Boilermakers' matches against Washington State and Butler, and she recorded nine saves. Last season, Edwards played in three games and made three saves with no goals allowed, including an appearance in the NCAA tournament.  
  • Last season sophomore tandem Lauren Omholt (F) and Zoe Cuneio (D) accounted for 1,231 minutes and a season high 1,552 minutes, respectively. Both played and started in all 18 matches, with the exception of one start for Omholt. They each capped off their freshmen seasons with two goals and Omholt was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team.  

SERIES HISTORY  
This is only the fourth-ever meeting between the two programs with Purdue leading the all-time series 3-0-0. In their last matchup on Nov. 13, 2021, the Ramblers fell 0-1 to the Boilermakers.
