CHICAGO – Loyola Chicago women's volleyball is gearing up for its second annual Gentile Jamboree set for the home opener against Utah on Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. With giveaways and plenty of in-game entertainment, the Ramblers are looking to pack the arena for the first night of the Loyola Invitational.
"Seeing the growth of support for women's sports across the country over the last year has been inspiring," said head coach
Amanda Berkley. "We're seeing it currently with WNBA attendance and last season's Nebraska vs. Omaha volleyball match. We would love to see Gentile packed for our home opener vs. Utah in September. We've seen Gentile full for other programs, and the atmosphere is unmatched. Our ladies have worked tirelessly to prepare for this season and are coming off back-to-back Atlantic 10 championship matches. It would be great to see the Loyola student body and Rogers Park community show their support for the Ramblers this season."
The first 250 students in attendance will receive a Loyola branded baseball jersey for the first giveaway of the season. DJ One Chance, the band of wolves, and Loyola spirit teams will provide entertainment.
"Seeing the Loyola community come out strong at games is so awesome," said
Esma Ajanovic. "We love and appreciate the support, and it helps to motivate us to put on a show and win. We love seeing the support around us when we're competing hard, and we love to have a lot of fun with cheers and the loud environment. Looking forward to seeing everyone in Gentile!"
The current women's volleyball attendance record was set against Tennessee last season when 1,115 fans came out to support the Ramblers. The student record is 859 also set against the Volunteers.
Come out Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. to help break the old record and cheer on the Ramblers in their opener.
