Ramblers Come From Behind to Beat Dukes

Harris nets equalizer, Rossi finds game-winner.

PITTSBURGH -- Loyola Chicago rallied past Duquesne and snapped the Dukes' undefeated home streak in a 2-1 victory under the lights on Thursday, Oct. 16. Juniors Jadyn Harris and Emily Rossi found the back of the net to secure the Ramblers' first Atlantic 10 road win.

Loyola is now 8-3-4 overall and 3-2-2 in A-10 action.

Coach Quotes: Jon Sandoval
"The team showed a lot of grit and resilience. It's been a tough week, some tough questions were asked and the team answered them tonight. However we've been here before, we can't let this moment get too high. We have to understand how hard A-10 play is, we have to be mature competitors and be willing to give everything every time."

How it Happened

  • The Ramblers overcame an early deficit after the Dukes converted a penalty kick in the 12th minute.
  • Loyola found its footing late in the first half when Harris buried a goal in the bottom left after a pinpoint assist from Meghan Economos, sending the teams into halftime knotted at 1-1.
  • The Ramblers carried that momentum into the second 45, as Rossi scored the game-winner, her first goal of the season, in the 67th minute.
  • Allison Deardorff anchored Loyola's defense with a season-high 10 saves, fending off a late surge from Duquesne.

Inside the Box Score

  • The Ramblers earned the first win ever in the all-time series with the Dukes, which is now 1-0-2.
  • Deardorff notched the second double-digit outing of her career.
