Loyola Hosts Fordham at Hoyne Field

First touch set for 3 p.m. CT on ESPN+

CHICAGO - The Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team returns to Atlantic 10 play this Saturday (Oct. 4) when the Ramblers host Fordham. First touch from Loyola Soccer Park is set for 3 p.m. with game coverage provided by ESPN+. Scott Sudikoff will call the action.

KICKING OFF
  • The Ramblers head into Saturday having won three of their last five games.
  • Most recently, Loyola Chicago earned a 2-0 win over Holy Cross (Ind.) Tuesday night at Loyola Soccer Park.
  • Arved von Vegesack scored his first goal of the season in the 70th minute, assisted by Hugo Urdiales and Antonio Pinto.
  • Antonio Pinto sealed the win with his team-leading fifth goal in the 90th minute off a feed from Angel Mendez.
  • The Ramblers outshot the Saints 19-3, including 13 shots in the second half, and held 61% of possession.
  • Loyola earned eight corner kicks while limiting Holy Cross to just three shots.
  • Goalkeeper Frankie Pinto made two saves for his first clean sheet of the season in his second start.
  • Hugo Urdiales ranks second in the Atlantic 10 in shots per game (3.00) while Antonio Pinto ranks third in goals per game (.500). Jack McFeely (.300) and Arved von Vegesack (3.00) rank seventh in assists per game.
  • As a team, Loyola is third in the league in assist per game (1.80).

GLANCE AT FORDHAM
  • Head Coach Carlo Acquista has a 43-36-31 (.532) record in seven seasons at FU.
  • This season, Fordham is 5-2-2 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play.
  • The Rams rank in the nation's top-25 in shots per game (15.67) and shot son goal per game (6.78).
  • Eight Rams have scored at least one goal, while three student-athletes have three under their belts.
  • Daniel D'Ippolito is tied for fifth-most assists per game (.67) in the country. D'Ippolito and Bennett Leitnet lead the league in game-winning goals (.250).
  • Emile Kisse ranks second in the conference in points per game (1.38).
  • In five games played, keeper Tristan Stephani leads the A-10 in goals against average (.400) and is third in save percentage (.833)
2025 NOTABLE NUMBERS AND NOTES
  • Hugo Urdiales, a 2024 All-Conference and CSC Academic All-District pick, started 13 matches and logged 987 minutes last season. A three-time A-10 Rookie of the Week, he led Loyola in goals, shots and points, and was named to the A-10 Preseason All-Conference Team.
  • Loyola was picked seventh in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Coaches' Poll. Defending champion Dayton topped the poll with eight first-place votes, followed by George Mason and Saint Louis. The Ramblers earned 91 points in the voting by the league's 13 head coaches.
  • The offseason featured plenty of activity. Grant Bailey, selected 86th overall by D.C. United in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft, returns for another season with Loyola.
  • Former Ramblers Julian Cisneros and Marc Torrelles signed with FC Naples in USL League One, where they've impressed in their rookie campaigns.
  • The team also spent spring break in Italy, traveling to Milan, Lake Como, Parma and Rome while facing Serie D competition.
  • On the sidelines, assistant coach Ricardo Pinto returned to the staff, while former pro Kervin Kenton joined as an assistant as well.
  • This season marks the first without former A-10 member Massachusetts, which moved to the Mid-American Conference in July.
  • Loyola returns 17 players and seven starters responsible for 21 of its 24 goals last season, along with 59 of 72 points.
  • Head coach Steve Bode, entering his fourth year at the helm, has signed nine newcomers and owns a 26-16-17 career record with the Ramblers.
SERIES STUFF VS. FORDHAM
  • Loyola Chicago leads the all-time series with Fordham, 3-1.
  • The first meeting was in 2015 when Loyola downed the Rams at home, 2-1.
  • Loyola won the first two matchups after joining the A-10, but Fordham claimed the most recent meeting with a 5-1 victory last season.
  • The match, played in NYC, saw Angel Mendez score his third goal of 2024.
