Loyola Chicago Hosts No. 16 Saint Louis on Senior Day

First touch set for 3 p.m. CT on ESPN+

CHICAGO - The Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team caps its regular season home slate with a Senior day showdown against No. 16 Saint Louis. First touch is set for 3 p.m. with live coverage provided by ESPN+. Scott Sudikoff (pxp) and Loyola Hall of Famer, Jack Cannon (color), will call the action.

KICKING OFF
  • The Senior Day festivities are schedule for pre-game. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to support Kike Morales Bilbao, Angel Mendez, Aidan Crawford, Ben Bischof, TJ Cairney, and Hugo Urdiales.
  • The Ramblers battle their second nationally ranked foe of 2025 this Saturday when the Billikens come North. Previously, Loyola squared off against No. 25 George Mason in late September.
  • The Ramblers are vying for a spot in the 2025 Atlantic 10 Championships in early November. Only the top eight teams in the league qualify, and Loyola currently sits in a tie for ninth in the conference standings. A win over Saint Louis would provide a major boost to the team's postseason hopes.
  • Most recently, Loyola Chicago fell, 3-0, to VCU at home this past weekend. Prior to that, the Ramblers were on a four-match unbeaten streak.
  • Goalkeeper Gabe Velasco made five saves against the Rams, including a penalty-kick stop, while Antonio Pinto led Loyola with three shots, one of them on goal.
  • Despite the loss, the 'Blers held a 7-6 advantage in corner kicks.
  • The last time SLU visited Chicago, the Ramblers defeated No. 25 Saint Louis, 3-1.
  • Following its penultimate regular season match against VCU, Loyola Chicago wraps up the regular season next Saturday (Nov. 1) with a primetime showdown at Dayton.
GLANCE AT SAINT LOUIS
  • Head Coach Kevin Kalish is 77-33-31 (.656) in eight seasons at Saint Louis. He's 126-79-45 (.594) in his 14 year career.
  • This season, the Billikens are 8-2-4 overall and 5-0-1 in A-10 play.
  • The team is ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 NCAA DI Men Poll for the second-straight week.
  • SLU has faced notable non-conference opponents in 2025 including Akron, Indiana, Portland and Missouri State.
  • Theo Franca and Andrew Heckenlaible leads the team in points with six each. Heckenlaible ranks tied for fourth in the A-10 in game-winners per game (.154).
  • 2024 A-10 Keeper of the Year Jeremi Abonnel is tied for fifth in the nation in shutouts per game with eight.
2025 NOTABLE NUMBERS AND NOTES
  • Hugo Urdiales, a 2024 All-Conference and CSC Academic All-District pick, started 13 matches and logged 987 minutes last season. A three-time A-10 Rookie of the Week, he led Loyola in goals, shots and points, and was named to the A-10 Preseason All-Conference Team.
  • Loyola was picked seventh in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Coaches' Poll. Defending champion Dayton topped the poll with eight first-place votes, followed by George Mason and Saint Louis. The Ramblers earned 91 points in the voting by the league's 13 head coaches.
  • The offseason featured plenty of activity. Grant Bailey, selected 86th overall by D.C. United in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft, returns for another season with Loyola.
  • Former Ramblers Julian Cisneros and Marc Torrelles signed with FC Naples in USL League One, where they've impressed in their rookie campaigns.
  • The team also spent spring break in Italy, traveling to Milan, Lake Como, Parma and Rome while facing Serie D competition.
  • On the sidelines, assistant coach Ricardo Pinto returned to the staff, while former pro Kervin Kenton joined as an assistant as well.
  • This season marks the first without former A-10 member Massachusetts, which moved to the Mid-American Conference in July.
  • Loyola returns 17 players and seven starters responsible for 21 of its 24 goals last season, along with 59 of 72 points.
  • Head coach Steve Bode, entering his fourth year at the helm, has signed nine newcomers and owns a 26-17-20 career record with the Ramblers.
SERIES STUFF VS. SLU
  • In an all-time series that dates to 1983, the Ramblers trail SLU, 2-8-1.
  • Last season, Jack McFeely scored for the Ramblers in the final seconds of the match but it wasn't enough as Saint Louis took the 2-1 win.
  • In 2023 though, LUC downed No. 25 Saint Louis, 3-1, at Hoyne Field.
  • The win, Loyola's last over a ranked foe, was LUC's second-ever over Saint Louis. The squad previously beat SLU, 2-1, in the 1996 season.
  • The Billikens' eight-match win streak was dismantled by the Ramblers. Also coming to an end was SLU's 12-match unbeaten streak in A-10 regular-season and tournament games dating to 2022.
  • Petar Janjic's scored the game-winner in the 30th minute.
