Ramblers Sweep Rams Friday Night

RICHMOND - Loyola Chicago pulled off a sweep Friday night over VCU to open the weekend with a win. Ann Marie Remmes was the lone Rambler in double-digit kills with 11.

The conference victory improved Loyola to 11-11 overall and 8-2 in A-10 action.

"We served really well tonight. I thought Sam and Jae made a big difference in the match," said head coach Amanda Berkley. "I'm also proud of Emma for putting her hitters in a good position to score. It was great to see our team transition and score."

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Ramblers earned a set-one victory 25-21 helped by a strong performance on the attacking side. Loyola registered a .400 attack percentage with 15 kills in the set victory. The Ramblers took their first and last lead of the match at 14-13 and rode it to victory. Remmes had five kills out of the gate, while Kaitlyn Burke added three.

SET 2 | Loyola carried momentum from a set-one win by earning a 25-15 victory in set number two. The Ramblers led from the opening point on in the set to earn the victory. Loyola opened its biggest lead of the stanza, 10 points, to finish off the set. Remmes and Karli Molnau had four kills each.

SET 3 | The Ramblers scored first and never trailed in the set to secure a 25-19 victory to win the third set and sweep the match. Loyola opened up as much as a 10 point lead at 19-9 before finishing off the set. The Loyola Chicago offense also got a boost from six aces in the stanza. Sam Falk had three aces, while Jae Fitting added two.

  • Falk had a match-high five aces in the win. Fitting added four.
  • Remmes had a match-high 11 kills.
  • Falk registered a team-high 16 digs.
  • Loyola attackers were helped by a match-high 33 assists from Emma Henry.
