Revs Cruise Past Ramblers

CHICAGO - The Loyola Chicago volleyball team jumped out to a 1-0 lead, but couldn't hang on and lost in four sets (25-18, 17-25, 24-26, 24-26) to the George Washington Revolutionaries Saturday at home in Gentile Arena.

The loss dropped Loyola's record to 6-10 overall and 3-1 in A-10 action.

The Ramblers were led by a double-double from Kaitlyn Burke, who registered 10 kills and 16 digs on the day. 

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Ramblers took the first set 25-18 powered by a solid showing on the attacking side. Loyola registered a .355 attack percentage with 16 kills in the set victory. The Ramblers ended on a strong note, stretching their lead to its largest point in the set to finish out the stanza.

SET 2 | Loyola  then dropped the second set 25-17, evening things at a set each. Loyola trailed by as many as eight points as George Washington grabbed the advantage for good at 6-5 in a set that was tied up six times before the Revolutionaries took over the lead.

SET 3 | A set-three loss put Loyola behind 2-1. The Ramblers dropped a close set, losing 26-24 in a stanza that was tied six times and had four lead changes.

SET 4 | Loyola lost set four and the match, falling 26-24. The Ramblers dropped a back-and-forth set, losing in a stanza that featured six lead changes and was tied 16 times. Neither team opened up a lead of more than three points along the way.
 

Game Notes

  • Loyola had three players in double figures in kills. Karli Molnau had a team-high 15 kills, Ann Marie Remmes had 11, Burke tallied 10.
  • Loyola Chicago got a match-high 17 digs from Jae Fitting.
  • Loyola Chicago attackers were helped by a team-high 23 assists from Ava Hunter. She also had a match-high two aces.
  • Avary DeBlieck recorded seven blocks.
