CHICAGO - The Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team wraps up its trip to the City of Brother Love with a matchup at La Salle. First touch is set for Saturday (Oct. 11) at McCarthy Stadium. Coverage will be provided by ESPN+.
KICKING OFF
- The Ramblers entered the two-game road stretch in Philadelphia, playing the SJU Hawks most recently and La Salle Saturday.
- The Maroon and Gold face the Explorers with just one loss in the last five games. Most recently, Loyola Chicago tied Saint Joseph's, 0-0, earning an important point in Atlantic 10 play.
- Goalkeeper Gabe Velasco recorded his second shutout of the season without needing to make a save while Loyola's back line limited Saint Joseph's to one shot on goal.
- Luka Ivancic, Daniel Firs, Petar Janjic, and Hugo Urdiales each registered a shot for the Ramblers.
- Pinto, a freshman, has been a force for the Ramblers. He ranks fifth the Atlantic 10 in goals per game with .417.
- Hugo Urdiales, who sits fourth in the conference in shots per game (2.58), has tallied two assists in the last three games for LUC. He averages .250 assists per game, the 10th best mark in the A-10.
- The Ramblers have sent off 159 shots so far in 2025. Only Fordham has more in the league with 159.
- Following Saturday, the Ramblers have three regular season games left on the 2025 regular season docket, beginning with home contests versus VCU and Saint Louis.
GLANCE AT LA SALLE
- Head Coach Taylor Thames has a career record of 23-39-18 (.400) in five seasons with the Explorers.
- This season, La Salle holds an overall record of 1-4-6 (0.364) and is 0-2-2 (0.250) in Atlantic 10 action.
- A trio of Explorers have scored two goals thus far in 2025.
- Kyrese Lynch-Bailey leads the team in shots with 16.
- Last time out, the Explorers fell, 1-0, to Davidson at home.
- La Salle was outshot by the Wildcats 22-9 overall, and 7-4 on shots on goal.
- Keeper Kneis Valentin ranks second in the A-10 in saves per game with 4.55.
2025 NOTABLE NUMBERS AND NOTES
- Hugo Urdiales, a 2024 All-Conference and CSC Academic All-District pick, started 13 matches and logged 987 minutes last season. A three-time A-10 Rookie of the Week, he led Loyola in goals, shots and points, and was named to the A-10 Preseason All-Conference Team.
- Loyola was picked seventh in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Coaches' Poll. Defending champion Dayton topped the poll with eight first-place votes, followed by George Mason and Saint Louis. The Ramblers earned 91 points in the voting by the league's 13 head coaches.
- The offseason featured plenty of activity. Grant Bailey, selected 86th overall by D.C. United in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft, returns for another season with Loyola.
- Former Ramblers Julian Cisneros and Marc Torrelles signed with FC Naples in USL League One, where they've impressed in their rookie campaigns.
- The team also spent spring break in Italy, traveling to Milan, Lake Como, Parma and Rome while facing Serie D competition.
- On the sidelines, assistant coach Ricardo Pinto returned to the staff, while former pro Kervin Kenton joined as an assistant as well.
- This season marks the first without former A-10 member Massachusetts, which moved to the Mid-American Conference in July.
- Loyola returns 17 players and seven starters responsible for 21 of its 24 goals last season, along with 59 of 72 points.
- Head coach Steve Bode, entering his fourth year at the helm, has signed nine newcomers and owns a 26-16-19 career record with the Ramblers.
SERIES STUFF VS. LA SALLE
- In an all-time series that dates to 1992, LUC leads La Salle, 6-1.
- The Ramblers' sole loss to La Salle came in 1994 in Philadelphia.
- Most recently, the Maroon and Gold downed La Salle, 2-1, on Oct. 19, 2024.

- Urdiales had career-high seven shots with all but one landing on-goal.
- Loyola Chicago led in shots, 21-7, and in shots on target, 10-1.
