Ramblers Rally at George Mason, Win 3-1

FAIRFAX, Va. - After dropping the first set, Loyola Chicago rallied for a 3-1 win over George Mason to close the regular season. Loyola will learn its seeding for the Atlantic 10 tournament following the conclusion of Sunday's action.

The victory boosted the Ramblers' record to 15-15 overall and 12-6 in A-10 play.

"Another good team win today, and a few players really stepped up and took advantage of the moment," said head coach Amanda Berkley."I am proud of Ava and Claire coming in and making a difference. I thought George Mason came fired up for senior night, and we did a good job getting back focused after set one."

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Ramblers found themselves in an early deficit, losing a tough first set 25-18. Loyola trailed by as many as seven points as George Mason grabbed the advantage for good at 13-12 in a set that was notted up six times. The Ramblers never really found their stride with only three players tallying two kills.

SET 2 | Loyola battled back for a 25-20 second-set win. The Ramblers never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 19-18 in a set that showcased four lead changes. Loyola's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking six George Mason attacks and capitalized on 10 George Mason attacking errors. Kaitlyn Bruke heated up, recording five kills in the set win.

SET 3 | The Ramblers took control of the set early when the score was 4-3 and never trailed to win 25-14. Loyola led by as much as 11 points at 15-4. Karli Molnau led Loyola with four kills, while Burke tallied another three. 

SET 4 | Loyola earned a match win with a 25-18 fourth-set victory, leading from the very first point. The Ramblers led by as much as a seven points,12-5. The offense was powered by six aces, including three from Leyna Nguyen and two from Jae Fitting. Ann Marie Remmes added a team-best four kills.

Game Notes

  • Burke finished with a team-high 13 kills, while Molnau added 11.
  • Ava Hunter tallied a team-leading 29 assists.
  • Sam Falk recorded another double-digit dig match against the Patriots, tallying 12 digs to lead Loyola.
  • The Ramblers had 12 total blocks. Avary DeBlieck added nine more to her season total, while Remmes and Burke had five each.

Up Next
The Atlantic 10 will announce the 2025 tournament bracket and seedings Sunday night. The Ramblers will head out to Richmond, Va. next week to defend their 2024 title.
