Ramblers Ready for A-10 Tournament Action

CHICAGO - Loyola Chicago earned the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic 10 Tournament, earning the tiebreaker against VCU and George Washington who forced a three-way tie to end the regular season. The Ramblers will take on the winner of No. 3 George Washington vs. No. 6 Duquesne on Saturday in the semifinal match at 1:30 p.m. CT. This season's tournament is hosted by VCU in Richmond.

The matches will be streamed on ESPN+.

QUICK HITS
• Loyola closed the regular season on a four-match win streak after sweeping series vs. Rhode Island and George Mason the last two weeks.
• Over the weekend, the Ramblers swept the Patriots in match one and rallied to win 3-1 in match two.
Avary DeBlieck set the single-season record, surpassing 145 blocks this year. She totaled 16 at GMU and sits with 158 and counting. The weekend efforts secured her the A-10 Defensive Player of the Week award.
• In the sweep, Ann Marie Remmes totaled 10 kills while hitting .714. It marked her fourth straight game leading Loyola's attack. Remmes had a career-high 20 vs. Saint Louis and 14 and 16 kills against Rhode Island, respectively.
Kaitlyn Burke and Karli Molnau stepped up in the regular season finale. Burke had a team-high 13 kills, while Molnau tallied 11.
• Over the last five matches, Remmes has racked up 67 kills, averaging 3.53 per set. She's hitting .557 over that stretch, while adding 17 total blocks on the defensive end.
• DeBlieck's weekend at the net moved her up the national and A-10 rankings. Her 158 total blocks is third in the country and leads the conference. DeBlieck also ranks 18th in blocks per set (1.45).
• Loyola continues to sit inside the nation's top-25 in blocks (8th/288.0), kills (14th/1,489), assists (16th/1,390), and digs (24th/1,759).
• Loyola Chicago raked in postseason honors after the A-10 shared the awards earlier this week.
• Remmes was tabbed to the First Team and All-Academic Team. DeBlieck and Burke earned Second Team honors. DeBlieck also took home All-Academic accolades. Molnau cemented her freshman success with an All-Rookie nod.
• Head coach Amanda Berkley is in her eighth season at the helm. Her overall record with the Ramblers is 153-92.

SCOUTING REPORT
No. 1 Dayton won its third straight A-10 regular season title with a perfect 18-0 league record. The Flyers have won five of the last six regular seasons. The Flyers are led by Kamryn Hunt, who is second in the A-10 in kills (4.00) and points per set (4.47). Karissa Kaminski registers 4.49 digs per set, to rank second in the A-10, while and Abigail Creese and Liana Sarkissian lead UD with 1.20 and 1.01 blocks per set respectively. The Flyers took home four of the five major A-10 Awards. Kamryn Hunt is the Player of the Year, Karissa Kaminski is the Libero of the Year, Viktoria Wahlgren is the Setter of the Year, and they are all coached by the Coach of the Year Tim Horsmon.

George Washington, finishing with an 12-6 record in the A-10, will be the No. 3 seed for the championship. The Revs have been efficient on the attack, ranking fourth in the NCAA with 1,561 total kills. Cayla Cogan has been their go-to. She's racked up 346 kills, ranking sixth in the A-10 and 149th nationally. Abby Markworth has set up GW's hitters all season long and ranks second int the A-10 and 18th in the country with 1,058 assists this season. GW landed one player on the A-10 First Team and two on the A-10 Second Team.

Host VCU drew the fourth seed, finishing in a three-way tie for second-place but losing out on the tiebreakers to Loyola and GW. The Rams have been one of the better teams in the league defending their opponents attack, ranking fourth in opponent hitting percentage (.198) and fifth in total blocks (248.0). The Rams are led by Julia Rinks offensively. She has 398 total kills, which is the third most in the league. She also ranks third in points (451.0). VCU landed only one player on the First Team and one on the All-Rookie Team.

No. 5 George Mason posted a 10-8 league record this season, finishing 17-12 overall. The Patriots are one of the best serving teams in the country with 203 aces, ranking 16th and leading the A-10. Autumn Martinez-Robinson has the third most aces in the country with 65 and counting this season. She also leads the A-10 in digs with 468, ranking 40th in the NCAA. George Mason's Kiera Hamilton was named the A-10 Rookie of the Year and holds a spot on the All-Rookie Team.

No. 6 Duquesne completes the field with a 9-9 A-10 record. The Dukes went 17-12 overall. Duquesne leads the conference in aces per set (1.81), assists per set (12.47), and kills per set (13.34). Emersen Schrom is one of the nation's best hitters. She ranks ninth in kills (485), eighth in points (552.5), 11th in total attacks (1,247), 22nd in points per set (4.98), and 29th in kills per set (4.37). Schrom has four A-10 Player of the Week awards this season and earned a spot on the A-10 First Team.
