BOSTON, Mass. — Loyola University Chicago track turned in a series of record-setting and all-time performances Saturday at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, highlighted by a new men's 5,000-meter school record and multiple additions to the program's all-time top-10 lists.
In the men's 5,000-meter invitational, James Lawrence broke the school record with a time of 13:32.15, surpassing Ryan Martin's 2022 mark to place 16th overall in one of the nation's premier early-season distance races.
The Ramblers also produced two top-10 all-time marks in the 3,000 meters. Jason Clayton clocked a personal-best 7:54.17 to take fifth overall in the men's race, moving to No. 2 in school history. Izak Bibile added a major breakthrough of his own, running 8:04.97 to place third in his heat and 33rd overall — the ninth-fastest performance ever by a Rambler. Nate Boutin rounded out the group in 8:08.41, good for 14th in his heat.
On the women's side, Roisin Treacy delivered a standout effort in the 3,000 meters, taking 13th overall in a seven-second personal best of 9:17.49, the second-fastest time in Loyola history. Maggie Powers finished 14th in her heat in 10:03.39.
Loyola added three more personal bests in the women's 5,000 meters. Ali Gillooly ran 16:55.61 to finish eighth in her heat, while Eileen Seebon crossed in 16:55.09 to take sixth. Pippa Carcas posted a 17:16.95 to place 11th in her heat.
The men's 5,000-meter open section produced another trio of strong showings. Jake Phillips recorded a personal-best 13:54.74 to finish second in his heat, moving to No. 4 all-time at Loyola. Hayden Healey added a personal best of 14:05.12 to take third in his heat, the eighth-fastest mark in program history. Cael Mulholland clocked 14:13.63, finishing 14th in his heat.
Loyola continues its indoor slate Jan. 16–17 in Indianapolis at the Hoosier Horsepower Invitational.
