No. 7 Loyola Chicago (12-1, 4-1 MIVA) welcomes Quincy for another Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) matchup on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 5 p.m. inside Gentile Arena.
QUICK HITS
- The Ramblers recently swept the Hawks, 3-0, last Friday, Feb. 14 on the road to clinch their sixth straight set victory this season.
- At Quincy, sophomore middle blocker Aidan Klein recorded a team-high nine kills while adding four blocks. The team finished with 11 total blocks and hit .333, holding Quincy to a .148 hitting percentage.
- The Ramblers lead the league in nine different categories: points (17.59/set), hitting percentage (.358), assists (12.20/set), kills (13.08/set), service aces (2.00/set), opponent hitting percentage (.210), opponent assists (10.24/set), opponent kills (10.61/set) and opponent service aces (.94/set).
- Junior setter Ryan McElligott is the MIVA leader in assists, averaging 10.83/set while senior outside hitter Parker Van Buren is No. 1 in kills/set (4.23), service aces/set (.51) and in points/set (5.14).
- Loyola picked up its fourth conference win, a straight set sweep over Purdue Fort Wayne on Thursday, Feb. 20.
SCOUTING REPORT
Quincy is 6-6 overall on the season and 1-2 in league play, including four sweeps. The Hawks snagged their first MIVA win in a 3-1 victory over Queens. Barnabas Fenyvesi leads the team offensively with 107 kills on .248 hitting while Aleksandar Sosa is the team's leader in service aces (19). Defensively, Relja Milosavljevic anchors the team with 53.0 blocks, including 18 solos.
SERIES HISTORY
The Ramblers lead the Hawks, 44-1, in the all-time series with their only loss coming in 2011. Most recently, the Maroon and Gold swept the Hawks in straight sets on the road on Friday, Feb. 14. Last year, Loyola bested Quincy in both of the regular season matches, a 3-1 victory inside Gentile Arena, followed by a 3-0 sweep on the road.
