GREENVILLE, N.C. – A late-inning surge from Canisius pushed them past Loyola Chicago, as the Ramblers fell 4-2 in eight innings on Saturday, Feb. 23 on the final day of the Pirate Invitational. The Ramblers are now 2-11 overall on the season.
How It Happened
Strong performances in the circle held a deadlock seven scoreless innings. Peyton Pepkowski delivered a determined outing, striking out 10 batters across 7.2 innings, but Canisius broke through in extra innings with a four-run eighth frame.
The Golden Griffins took advantage of their first scoring opportunity in the final inning, plating four runs on timely hitting, including a two-run double. The Ramblers fought back in the bottom half, with Skyler Croker delivering an RBI double and Sierra Sass adding an RBI single, but the rally fell short.
Despite the loss, Loyola saw bright spots offensively, with Bella Crimaldi going 2-for-3 and Croker providing a clutch hit. Haley Wallace also delivered one hit.

- Pepkowski (0-8) faced 30 batters, striking out 10 and allowing three earned runs; her ERA is now 6.76 on the season.
- Sass, Wallace and Abby Johnson recorded two putouts each while Addyson Borg added five at first base.
