MIVA Tabs Nicodemus Meyer Defensive POTW

Sixth weekly POTW honors for Loyola this season.

CHICAGO – In the first weekly honor of his career, Nicodemus Meyer was named the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the league's office on Tuesday morning. The nod marks the first of Meyer's career, the sixth overall weekly award for the Ramblers this season and their first defensive POTW of the year.   

Meyer notched the match-high nine blocks (seven block assists and two solos) at Purdue Fort Wayne on Friday, March 14 to help lift Loyola to its seventh conference victory. It also marked a season and career high for the senior middle blocker who added four kills on .800 hitting and one dig for 9.5 points against the Mastodons.  

The 6-foot-10 Franklin, Wis. native is second in the league in blocks/set, averaging 1.19, and ranks fourth in the country in the same category. 

Loyola Up next the Ramblers host No. 17 Ohio State on Thursday, March 20 and No. 7 Cal State University Northridge on Saturday, March 22.
