Van Buren Earns Fourth MIVA POTW

Third straight week Loyola earns conference POTW.

CHICAGO – The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) named Parker Van Buren the Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season and 15th overall in his career, per the league's announcement on Tuesday morning.

Powered behind Van Buren's offensive prowess, the Ramblers went 2-0 last week as they defeated then-No. 17 Ohio State, 3-1, on March 20 before battling then-No. 7 CSUN on March 22 in a five-set thriller that finished in a 3-2 Loyola victory.

The 6-foot-9 outside hitter recorded the match-high 19 kills on .486 hitting against the Buckeyes while adding four block assists, three service aces and two digs. Van Buren carried the same momentum against the Matadors, clocking another match-high 19 kills on .375 hitting and contributing eight digs and five block assists.

Van Buren, a redshirt senior from Cross Plains, Wis. Is the MIVA leader in kills (4.28/set), points (5.19/set) and service aces (0.52/set). Nationally, he ranks fourth in fifth in kills/set, 10th in aces/set and 11th in hitting percentage.

The fourth weekly recognition for Van Buren marks the third consecutive award for Loyola after Nicodemus Meyer earned the defensive nod on March 17 and Ryan McElligott was named offensive on March 11.
