RALEIGH, N.C. – Loyola Chicago men's and women's track put together a strong showing across two meets in the program's outdoor debut, highlighted by several personal bests and program all-time performances.
At the Raleigh Relays, Samuel Field placed 21st overall and eighth in his heat in the 1,500m, clocking a personal-best time of 3:41.82, which ranks fourth in Loyola history. Teammate Nate Boutin also set a personal record in the event, finishing in 3:49.24 to take fifth in his heat.
The Ramblers saw solid individual performances across the board. Gabe Smit competed in the 3,000m steeplechase, posting a time of 9:09.38 to take 10th in his heat, while Jake Philips finished the 5,000m in 14:22.77, taking 20th in his heat. In the 10,000m, Cael Mulholland was 15th in his heat and recorded a personal best of 29:01.33, securing the fourth-fastest time in LUC's annals.
Meanwhile, at the WashU Distance Carnival in St. Louis, Eileen Seebon ran the 10,000m with a time of 36:06.00. On the men's side, Woody Jerome set a personal-best 29:47.00.
In the women's 5,000m, Ali Gillooly finished second in her heat with a personal-best 16:57.00, while Grace Jostok also PR'd in 16:46.00.Â
Rounding out the Ramblers' performances at WashU, Aiden Grasse placed fifth in her heat in the 3,000m steeplechase, setting a personal best of 11:06.52, which ranks sixth in program history.
