AMHERST, Mass. - Loyola Chicago (14-30, 9-10 A-10) secured a doubleheader sweep against Massachusetts on Friday, April 18 after a 5-0 shutout in the opener and outlasting the Minutewomen 6-5 in the second game.
"I loved the fight we saw out of our team today. Pep [
Peyton Pepkowski] and Andie [Broniewicz] performed well on the mound. Alli [Pawlowicz] being able to take advantage of her pitch in back-to-back games was huge for us as a whole. Offensively, we did a great job of executing to get them on, get them over, get them in," said head coach

Game One: Loyola 5, Massachusetts 0
In the series opening game, the Ramblers plated all five of their runs in the second inning.
Riley Owens launched a single to left field, allowing
Skyler Croker and
Sierra Sass to score. Moments later, rookie
Alli Pawlowicz homered to left field and scored
Haley Wallace and Owens. Loyola kept UMass scoreless the remainder of the game. Senior pitcher
Peyton Pepkowski tossed a complete-game shutout while striking out seven batters and allowing just three hits.

- Owens recorded her third double of the season while adding two hits, two RBIs and one run.

Game Two: Loyola 6, Massachusetts 5
Loyola jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first frame after Pawlowicz launched another homer for three runs, scoring
Haley Wallace and
Bella Crimaldi. UMass clawed back with a pair of runs in the fourth inning and made a push in the final inning, scoring three runs in the seventh. The Ramblers added three insurance runs in the closing inning thanks to a single by Wallace and an RBI hit from
Bella Crimaldi.
Andie Broniewicz secured the win with six innings of work and Pepkowski returned for relief, earning her first save of the season.
