WALNUT, Calif. — Loyola University Chicago's Roisin Treacy continued her record-breaking outdoor season Thursday night, headlining a series of standout performances for the Ramblers at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays and Bryan Clay Invitational, as well as the Wheaton Don Church Invitational.
Treacy shattered her own program record in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, clocking a time of 10:14.36 to finish first overall in a highly competitive national field. The mark trims nearly eight seconds off her previous school-best time of 10:22.28, set just three weeks ago at the Raleigh Relays.
Fellow Rambler Aiden Grasse also delivered a breakout performance in the women's steeplechase, crossing the line in 10:48.41 to earn a personal best and fifth-place finish. Grasse now ranks fourth all-time in Loyola's annals.
On the men's side, Nate Boutin led the way in the steeplechase with a personal-best time of 8:58.81 to place fourth in his heat. The effort moved Boutin to No. 3 on Loyola's all-time list. Right behind him, teammate Gabe Smit registered a new PR of 9:05.53 to finish seventh in the same heat and climb to No. 8 in program history. In another section, Trent Anderson recorded a personal best of 9:32.32 for an 11th-place heat finish.
Across town at the Bryan Clay Invitational, several Ramblers continued the trend of career-best performances. In the women's 5,000 meters, Emma Watcke set a new PR and placed 10th with her time of 15:57.60, the second-fastest time at Loyola.
Grace Jostock (16:44.05) and Ali Gillooly (16:53.47) also notched personal bests in the 5K. Priscilla Ravera clocked a 18:11.03, while Eileen Seebon added a 17:04.11 to round out Loyola's women's 5K efforts.
On the men's side, Jake Phillips placed among the top 10 in his 5K heat, running a PR time of 14:05.89. Cael Mulholland followed with a strong showing of 14:20.06 in a separate heat.
In the men's 800-meter open, Jack Slaughter and James Howell each earned new personal bests. Slaughter took fifth in his heat at 1:53.45, while Howell clocked 1:53.88 for sixth in a separate section.
In Wheaton, Ill., at the Don Church Invitational, Aidan Collins took seventh in his 1,500m heat with a personal best time of 4:06.05. Kyle Knutson wasn't far behind, taking ninth in 4:12.17.
