WASHINGTON, D.C. – For the second straight week, Loyola Chicago's Peyton Pepkowski was named the Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week, per the league's announcement on Monday afternoon.
The senior from St. John, Ind. pitched her second complete-game shutout this season in Loyola's series opening game against St. Bonaventure on Saturday, April 5. Through seven innings, Pepkowski allowed just four hits and struck out a season-high 11 batters in the 5-0 victory.
In the series closer on Sunday, April 6, Pepkowski stranded the Bonnies' tying run in the seventh inning to seal the complete-game win. She allowed just three hits and one earned run while retiring eight in a gritty 115-pitch performance.
Powered behind Pepkowski's pitching, the Ramblers secured their second consecutive A-10 series sweep and are on an eight-game winning streak.
