Abbott Completes 2026 Roster with Two Transfers

Adelina Staden, Brooke Steinhorst round out 2026 roster.

CHICAGO - Loyola Chicago softball head coach Alicia Abbott completed her 2026 with the signing of two transfers: graduate student Adelina Staden and junior Brooke Steinhorst.

"We're thrilled to officially round out our 2026 roster with the additions of Adelina and Brooke. Brooke brings a dynamic skill set both inside the circle and at bat, with a proven ability to contribute on both sides of the ball, while Adelina adds consistency and RBI potential at the plate. Together, they bring talent, versatility and a winning mentality that aligns perfectly with our program's vision," said Abbott.

Staden, a Romeoville, Ill. native, comes to Loyola after completing her undergraduate degree at Calumet College of St. Joseph where she was a four-year letterwinner on the Crimson Wave's softball team. Across her career, Staden appeared in 169 total games, registering 213 hits, 137 RBI, 11 home runs and a .414 overall batting average.

During her senior campaign, Staden assisted the Crimson Wave to their furthest run in postseason history, earning the first baseman a spot on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region team. She played in all 44 games in 2025 and was the team leader in hits (66 on .482 BA), on-base percentage (.571) and slugging percentage (.723). Staden also led the team with 24 walks and 99 total bases. Defensively, Staden registered the team-high 261 putouts with 15 assists and only had five errors for a .982 fielding percentage. In addition to her NFCA All-Region recognition, Staden was named to the All-Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) First Team for the third consecutive season.

A pitcher out of Poynette, Wis., Steinhorst joins the Ramblers after two seasons at Madison College where she went 11-6 with a 3.33 ERA over 103.0 innings in 2025. The 5-foot-8 transfer batted .395 with 49 hits, 33 RBI and scored 21 runs; Steinhorst wrote her name in the WolfPack record books, ranking fourth in program history with 26 doubles, tied for fifth with 17 wins and sits at No. 11 with her 108 career strikeouts. In her debut season, Steinhorst contributed to Madison College's 29-13 record and recorded a .277 BA with pitching APP of 16, starting in 30 of 34 games played.
