CHICAGO — Loyola University Chicago's men's and women's track teams open the 2026 calendar year this weekend at the Hoosier Horsepower Classic, held Jan. 16-17 at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion in Indianapolis.

The Ramblers will compete in the distance medley relay, 800 meters, mile and 3,000 meters.

Action begins Friday with the women's 3,000 meters at 3:45 p.m., followed by the men's race. A second 3,000-meter section is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. The women's distance medley relay is slated to close the opening day at approximately 8:50 p.m., with the men's DMR to follow.

Saturday's competition opens with the women's mile at 11:15 a.m., followed by the men's mile. The women's 800 meters is scheduled for 1:15 p.m., with the men's race to follow.

Loyola is coming off a record-setting performance at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, highlighted by James Lawrence breaking the school record in the men's 5,000 meters with a time of 13:32.15.

The Ramblers also recorded multiple all-time top-10 marks, including Jason Clayton's No. 2 performance in the men's 3,000 meters and Roisin Treacy's second-fastest 3,000-meter time in program history. Several athletes on both squads posted personal bests, signaling a strong start to the indoor season against elite national competition.

Loyola returns to action Jan. 24 at the Notre Dame Invite.
