Bonnies Rally Over Ramblers

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Joshua Ola-Joseph tied his season-high 20 points in Loyola Chicago's loss at St. Bonaventure Tuesday night, 84-70. He went 6-12 from the field with five threes.
 
The Ramblers fall to 5-15 overall and 1-6 in A-10 play.
 
How It Happened
The Bonnies opened with four unanswered points Tuesday night, but the Ramblers bounced back on a 12-2 run to take control of the first. Miles Rubin got Loyola on the board, while Ola-Joseph and Xavier Amos connected from deep. St. Bonaventure answered with their own run, cutting Loyola's lead down to one with 11:43 to play, 14-13.
 
Despite the Bonnies' effort, the Ramblers remained in control and pulled away with another nine straight points. Deywilk Tavarez drained a three that forced a SBU timeout, while Alexander Richardson's layup out of the break opened the lead to double-digits with just over four to play, 33-22. Loyola's largest lead came on a three from Ola-Joseph with 1:18 to play at 14, and the Ramblers would say ahead by 12 at the break, 42-30.
 
The Ramblers scoring got streaky, while the Bonnies heated up in the second half. St. Bonaventure had an early 8-0 run, but Caleb Reese, Nic Anderson, and Tavarez kept Loyola's lead in double-figures by the 11:16 media timeout. The Bonnies delivered a 19-0 run out of the media, claiming a lead at 9:24 and building it to 10 by the 6:57 mark, 67-57.
 
Tavarez broke the scoreless stretch with a four-point play with 6:10 to go. Ola-Joseph and Anderson scored five straight to cut it down to eight with just over three to play, but the Bonnies would outscore the Ramblers 10-2 in the final three minutes. St. Bonaventure wins, 84-70.
