CHICAGO – Loyola Chicago men's soccer announced its newest member of the team last week with Team IMPACT member Mateo joining the Ramblers. Mateo was joined by his mom Nancy, head coach Kevin Robson, and teammate Charlie Lacy, along with the rest of the men's soccer team, at his signing.
Team IMPACT'S unique program matches children facing serious illness and disability with college athletic teams across the country. The mission is to guide children and teams alike in a mutually beneficial relationship of belonging, empowerment, and resilience.
"We're really excited to announce our latest signee, Mateo," said Robson. "Chicago is a huge part of our program and getting a southside player like Mateo is pretty awesome. He's a guy that can play a lot of positions, but his special skill set is his left foot. The kid has a rocket of a left foot, and it will be utilized well in our practice. We couldn't be happier to have Mateo and his mom as a part of the Rambler family."
As part of the team, Mateo helps the team pregame for home matches, watches in the stands with our biggest supporters, and connects with the Ramblers postgame on the pitch to talk about the match.
"When it comes to signing Mateo, it is really a no brainer," said Lacy. "We've got a big stretch of games coming up, and he's going to be a huge help in our success."
