Hui Closes Out Fall Season With Third-Place Finish At Dayton Invitational

Ramblers take sixth place in their fall season finale

KETTERING, Ohio — At the final event of their fall season, the Loyola Chicago women's golf team finished in sixth place at the Dayton Flyer Invitational. The highlight of the tournament was the play of junior Grace Hui, who closed out her stellar fall season with a third-place finish.

Loyola ended with a final score of 61-over-par (+16, +27, +18), which landed them in sixth place at the 11-team event. Butler took home the team title at the Dayton Invitational for the third straight year with a score of 17-over-par, while Butler's Addi Kooi won the individual title with a score of four-under-par.

"This was a solid finish to a really strong fall for us," said head coach Brandy Johnston. "Everyone is always a little tired by this point in the season, but we battled all three rounds and found a way to save strokes over our last nine holes. It's time for a little rest, and then some offseason work to prepare for the spring season."

The Ramblers were led by Grace Hui, who finished the tournament in a tie for third place with a score of +3 (+1, +3, -1). This was Hui's third top-10 performance of the fall season and the sixth of her career, and was the fourth time this year that she led the Ramblers on the individual leaderboard. In addition, Hui recorded the team's three best individual rounds of the event, led by her one-under-par, 69-stroke final round performance, and she led the team with 11 birdies over the course of the Dayton Invitational.

"There aren't enough superlatives to cover the past two months Grace has had," continued Johnston. "She was solid from the day she showed up to our first practice this season and right down to her very last putt today. She's improved at least three strokes over this time last season, which is truly impressive."

In addition, sophomore Reese Kite ended in a tie for 32nd with a final score of +18 (+5, +6, +7). Sophomore Robbin Zetrouer finished with a score of +21 (+6, +9, +6) to land in a tie for 41st place. Sophomore Maureen O'Leary concluded play in a tie for 44th place with a final score of +22 (+7, +9, +6). Junior Madison Haugen ended with a score of +24 (+4, +11, +9) to finish in a tie for 51st. Finally, freshman Sofia Afable, who played this tournament as an individual, ended with a score of +34 (+15, +9, +10).
