LEESBURG, Fla. -- Loyola Chicago completed a sweep one day two at THE Spring Games, first edging Bethune-Cookman 6-5 then shutting out Long Island 7-0 in six innings on Saturday, Feb. 14. The Ramblers improved to 4-5 overall.
Game One: Loyola 6, Bethune-Cookman 5
The Ramblers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with two runs in the top of the first inning and never let up their lead. Junior Nat Lesnicki left the yard with freshman Megan Piotrowski aboard to plate the first two runs.
The Wildcats then tied the ballgame before the Ramblers answered to reclaim their advantage in the second inning. Loyola's offense exploded with four runs, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of junior Liz Sedakis and a two-run double from Piotrowski, bringing the score to 6-2. Bethune-Cookman put up three runs before the game was over, but Loyola prevailed for the 6-5 win.
Junior Maddy Hickey (1-0) got the win for Loyola and freshman Anna Kiel went 2.2 shutout innings without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out two.
Game Two: Loyola 7, Long Island 0
Freshmen tandem Katie Geydoshek and Kiel combined to toss a shutout as Loyola Ramblers blanked Long Island. Geydoshek started in the circle for the Ramblers and got the win, going five shutout innings while giving up two hits, walking three and striking out a career-high six.
The Ramblers took the lead for good in the first as Piotrowski came across to score the lone run of the inning and get the scoring started for Loyola. The Ramblers then tacked on runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings, with their biggest output coming in the fifth when they scored three times.

- The Ramblers out-hit the Wildcats at a 10-8 clip.
- Loyola went 4-for-8 (.500) with runners in scoring position against Bethune-Cookman.
- In game one, Lesnicki led the Ramblers at the plate, going 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs.
- Geydoshek and Kiel combined to throw a five-hit shutout against Long Island and limited the Sharks to jsut 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
