Ramblers Out-Hit Wolves but Fall Short

MOBILE, Ala. -- Despite out-hitting West Georgia, Loyola Chicago came up short, 3-2, on the final day of the South Alabama Invitational on Sunday, Feb. 22. The Ramblers are now 6-9 overall after the weekend.

How It Happened
The Ramblers were trailing 3-0 in the third inning before junior Liz Sedakis had an RBI single to score sophomore Alli Pawlowicz from second base. Loyola kept West Georgia off the board for the remainder of the ballgame and narrowed the gap late in the seventh. Sedakis recorded her second RBI single of the day, plating freshman Megan Piotrowski, to inch in on the lead at 3-2, but the Ramblers were unable to get any closer.

Junior Maddy Hickey (1-1) started and took the loss in the circle for Loyola; the right-hander went four innings, giving up three runs, one earned, on three hits, allowing one walk and striking out four. Rookie Anna Kiel was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going three shutout innings while allowing one hit, walking none and striking out three.

At the plate, the Ramblers were paced by Sedakis, who went 2-for-4 on the day with two RBIs. Sophomore Addyson Borg compiled a standout day at the dish as well, going 1-for-2 with a double.
