Connors Leads Ramblers at Rio Verde Invitational

RIO VERDE, Ariz. — In the second event of their spring season, the Loyola Chicago women's golf team finished in 16th place at the Rio Verde Invitational. The highlight of the weekend was the play of freshman Teagan Connors, who finished as the highest-ranked Rambler for the first time in her career.

The Ramblers ended with a team score of 60-over-par (+22, +23, +15). Bradley won the team title at the tournament with a final score of 21-over-par, while Xavier's Isabel Brozena claimed the individual title with a score of one-under-par.

Loyola's third round score of 15-over-par was the team's best score versus par in a round since the Ramblers' four-over-par round two performance at the Velvet Classic during this past fall season.

"We played really well in our final round, which was nice to see," said head coach Brandy Johnston. "Hopefully, this round will be something we can build on when we tee it up again in a couple of weeks."

Teagan Connors ended the Rio Verde Invitational in a tie for 27th place with a score of +11, which ended up being her career-best 54-hole score versus par. Connors also finished the weekend with a team-high six birdies.

In addition, Cassie Psuik ended in a tie for 58th place with a score of +18, which was good for the team's second-best performance of the Rio Verde Invitational. Grace Durkin finished with a score of +19, landing her in a tie for 66th.

The sophomore duo of Grace Hui and Madison Haugen ended their weekends on a high note with final round scores of +3, which were tied with Teagan Connors' round one performance for the team's best of the tournament. Hui ended the tournament in a tie for 72nd with a score of +21, while Haugen ended with a score of +24, which landed her in a tie for 82nd.

The Ramblers' next event will be the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational. The tournament will be hosted by Southern Utah and will be held in St. George, Utah March 6-8.
