Loyola Chicago Never Trails in Game Three

CHICAGO -- Loyola Chicago swept the series with George Washington after a 7-1 victory in the closer on Sunday, April 19. The Ramblers improved to 23-19 overall and 15-3 in Atlantic 10 play.

Junior pitcher Brooke Steinhorst (4-7) started and got the win for Loyola, pitching five innings, giving up one run on three hits and striking out a career-high four. Rookie infielder Anna Kiel led the Ramblers at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.

Coach Quote: Alicia Abbott
"The team has one goal in mind and they're not going to stop until they reach that goal, and even then, I don't know if that's going to be enough for them. They've worked relentlessly hard, and we have pieces in place both defensively and offensively that are hard to tackle for our opponents right now, and that's making all the difference."

How It Happened
The Ramblers got the scoring started early, opening it up with one run as Vander Woude crossed home plate. Then Kiel doubled to score redshirt sophomore Liz Sedakis, extending the Ramblers lead to 2-0. Loyola scored five more times before George Washington got its lone run the board in the fifth frame. Both teams remained scoreless through the rest of the ballgame as the Ramblers coasted to a 7-1 win.

Inside the Box Scores
