Men's Soccer Battles DePaul to 3-3 Draw

CHICAGO – The Ramblers and Blue Demons battled Sunday night in a rainy Red Line Rivalry. Loyola Chicago men's soccer went up 2-0 before DePaul battled back to tie it, 2-2. Both teams would find the back of the net once more to leave Hoyne Field with a 3-3 draw.

With the tie, Loyola remains undefeated at 2-0-2 overall.

"A lot happened tonight, but we scored some great goals. It was exactly how you'd think a rivalry game would go," said head coach Kevin Robson. "I am really happy with the guys. We have a lot of room to grow, but this another good performance to build on."

How It Happened
Loyola's first goal came quick in the seventh minute of play after the Ramblers were successful with a video review showing a foul on Luka Ivancic in the box. Ivancic connected on his penalty kick for a 1-0 Loyola edge.

A little over 20 minutes later, Seth Stewart put the Ramblers up 2-0. Maxwell Ionita's goal kick went down field to Arved von Vegesack who headed it down to Stewart's foot for the goal. DePaul had an answer in the 42nd minute to narrow the gap. The Ramblers led 2-1 at the break.

Noeh Hernandez netted the DePaul equalizer in the 55th minute, and the match remained deadlocked until the final 10 minutes. Nico Kehayov scored for the ramblers at the 81:02 mark, but the Blue Demons responded at 82:13 on the clock to tie it again, 3-3. Both teams would get one more shot off before time expired, but the match ended in a draw.
