Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Ramblers Blank Redbirds

CHICAGO – Loyola Chicago used two second-half goals to take a shutout win over Illinois State Sunday afternoon at Loyola Soccer Park. Sarah Collins netted the game winner in the 74th minute, while the Ramblers added another in the 86th for a 2-0 win.

Loyola improves to 2-2 on the year.

"We were a little low on energy in the first 20 minutes. Sometimes that is expected when you have eight days off," said head coach Jon Sandoval. "Once we got up to speed and remembered the game plan, I thought we executed really well. Sarrah Collins was cold, didn't get to warm-up, came into the game and stepped up huge. She trains like that every day and she was prepared for the moment."

How It Happened
ISU held an edge in the first half out shooting Loyola, 7-6. The Redbirds put two of those attempts on goal, forcing Allison Deardorff to be active early and make saves. Both of Loyola's shots on goal were saved in the first half, and the match remained scoreless at the break.

It took until the 74th minute for the Ramblers to break through the Redbird defense. Collins got her left foot on the ball for a goal low past the keeper. Mia Lanni recorded the assist on the game winner.

Maggie Schmidt headed the second goal by the keeper in the 86th minute off an assist from Addison Schaffer for Loyola. The Ramblers held on to win, 2-0.
