EVANSTON, Ill. – The Ramblers played just north of their home field Thursday night, taking on the Northwestern Wildcats. Loyola Chicago and NU played to a scoreless draw, which marks the second straight shutout for the Ramblers.
With the tie, Loyola improves to 2-2-1 overall.
"We showed a lot of grit tonight," said head coach
Jon Sandoval. "It wasn't easy, and in a few moments, we bent but didn't break. Even though it's only 20 minutes down the road, points on the road are hard to come by. We are proud of the shift the team put in tonight."
How It Happened
It was a slow first half with the teams combining for just six total shots. Loyola's lone shot of the first 45 minutes came in the fifth minute with
Ansley Cryan putting it high off target. Northwestern forced the first save by
Allison Deardorff in the 12
th minute. She'd tally two more before halftime.
The Wildcats amped up their offense in the second half, taking 14 shots to the Ramblers' two.
Zoe Hevey registered Loyola's only shot on goal in the 59
th minute. Deardorff would get five more saves in the half to earn the shutout in goal.
